What Kentucky law requires
Kentucky requires motorcycle owners to carry at minimum $25,000 bodily injury per person, $50,000 bodily injury per accident, and $25,000 property damage liability. You must show proof of insurance when registering the bike and at any traffic stop.
Why state minimums are not enough for most riders
$25,000 in bodily injury per person barely covers a night in a hospital after a serious motorcycle crash. Most riders should carry at least 100/300/100 limits, and often a personal umbrella on top. Motorcycle injuries are typically catastrophic — under-insuring here is a mistake we see too often.

Comprehensive and collision to protect the bike itself, uninsured/underinsured motorist to protect you against drivers with minimum limits, medical payments, and custom parts and equipment coverage (especially if you’ve added exhaust, saddlebags, custom paint, etc.).
