Kentucky nurses sometimes qualify for insurance discounts, but availability varies by carrier and by policy line. Occupation-based discounts are less standardized than most consumers assume. Some carriers offer them, some don’t, and eligibility depends on your specific employer, association memberships, and household risk profile. Here’s what genuinely exists in the market — and how to check what’s actually available for you.
Written by Blake Boswell, licensed Kentucky property & casualty producer, Murray, KY. Updated July 2026. This page is informational — Boswell Insurance Agency does not guarantee occupation-specific discounts and does not currently maintain a dedicated nurses discount program across our carrier lineup. Actual discounts available depend on carrier program, your household, and current rate filings.
What kinds of nursing-related discounts exist in the industry
- Group / affinity programs. Some direct-to-consumer carriers (Liberty Mutual, Farmers, MetLife) have offered group discounts through the American Nurses Association or state nursing associations at various times. Availability changes.
- Employer group programs. Large Kentucky hospital systems occasionally negotiate group insurance arrangements with specific carriers. Check with your HR or employee benefits office.
- Occupation-based rating (rare in Kentucky). A handful of carriers give slightly more favorable rating to stable healthcare-employed households, but it’s not consistent across the market.
The discounts every household — nurse or not — should stack
- Multi-policy bundle (home + auto): 10-20% off each. Biggest single discount available.
- Good driver: 10-20% for clean 3-year record.
- Multi-vehicle: 10-25%.
- Monitored home alarm: 5-15% off home policy.
- Higher deductibles: 10-20% for absorbing more risk.
- Usage-based / telematics: 5-20% depending on driving behavior (Erie YourTurn, Progressive Snapshot, etc.).
What to actually do
Call your HR office and ask if your employer has any negotiated insurance group discount. Then check with an independent agent — we can shop across 5 carriers and see whether any of them currently have occupation-based rating that applies to you specifically. What we can promise: honest shopping across our carrier lineup with every applicable discount stacked. What we can’t promise: a “nurses discount” as a specific product, because our current carrier lineup doesn’t include one.
Call (270) 925-1524 for a quote across Erie plus 4 other carriers with every discount your household qualifies for.
